DAY OF RECKONING
December 10, 2009Dec 09,2009 will always be remembered by me as the Day of Reckoning.
Yesterday, we had to defend the survivival of our Group. The essence of our existence. It is so disheartening when one of your own group-mates stabs you in the back and creates doubt in your organization that has been built on the foundations of Trust and Confidence.
Oh well, that’s life I guess. Nothing really is certain except for change. For a gruelling 4 hour stretch, we had to point-out the reasons why the Group should not be disbanded and it was business as usual. Being under scrutiny almost all my professional life, I was used to this already. But some of my Groupmates are not. It pains me that they had to suffer anxiety and panic attacks.
After laying all the cards on the table, the verdict was out. The Group stays on, but the Fallen Member leaves.
We all have choices to make. Some tougher than others. Some say it is better to have made a wrong choice rather than no action taken. In this case, the choice ended a career and broken friendships. The career can be mended with a shift of jobs, the broken friendships however, may take some time to heal.
